Text · clean up AI textClean up text from AI

See what is hidden in text from ChatGPT, Claude or a web page: invisible characters, hidden messages, lookalike letters from another alphabet, Markdown asterisks. We remove only what gets in the way — dashes and quotation marks stay.

AI watermarks cannot be removed this way: Google's SynthID, for example, lives in the choice of words, not in characters. The tool cleans service characters and markup — not authorship.

About invisible characters

Text copied from an AI chat or a web page often carries more than meets the eye: no-break and narrow spaces, zero-width characters, markup symbols. Usually it is just junk that breaks search, string comparison and layout. But the same invisible characters are used to hide commands for AI models and secret messages — so the tool first shows what it found and only then cleans.

Zero-width

Invisible
U+200B
The zero-width space, joiners and the BOM cannot be seen, yet they break text search, string comparison and character counts.

Lookalike spaces

Typography
U+00A0 · U+202F
No-break and narrow spaces look like ordinary ones. A no-break space is legitimate in typeset text, so by default we keep it.

Hidden message

Unicode tags
U+E0000–E007F
Invisible “tag” characters can carry a whole line of text — that is how commands for AI models are hidden. We show the decoded text.

Direction override

Dangerous
U+202E
Bidirectional control characters change the visible order of letters. The Trojan Source attack on source code is built on them.

Mixed alphabets

Homoglyphs
a/а, o/о, c/с
A word looks normal, but search and spell-check cannot find it because one letter is Cyrillic. We highlight and fix it.

Not a watermark

Myth
SynthID
Invisible characters do not prove that AI wrote the text. Real watermarks live in the choice of words — cleaning does not remove them.

Frequently asked questions

Paste the text into the box — the X-ray view marks every invisible character with a label such as ZWSP or NBSP, and on hover shows its code point, like U+200B, and where such a character usually comes from. The “What we found” table counts them by category and offers an action for each: remove, replace with a space or keep. The result on the right updates at once.

Updated

The text is processed in your browser and never leaves it. Cleaning does not change authorship and does not remove AI watermarks.
