Take days next to holidays and weekends. Five days from 11 to 15 January give 18 days of rest, from 31 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. Four days from 4 to 7 May give 10 (1–10 May). Three days from 1 to 3 November give 9 (30 October – 7 November). Five days from 1 to 5 March give 10 (27 February – 8 March). Short parts without weekends need the employer's agreement.

Yes. Non-working public holidays inside annual leave are not counted as leave days (Labour Code, Art. 120). Leave from 1 to 15 June 2027 covers 15 calendar days, but 12 June is a holiday, so 14 are deducted. Weekends, including moved days off such as 3 May and 22 February 2027, are deducted like ordinary days. Regional non-working holidays at the place of work extend leave too.

By agreement with the employer, annual leave can be split into any number of parts, but one of them must be at least 14 calendar days (Labour Code, Art. 125). The other parts can be of any length, even a single day. Additional leave is added to basic leave, and the 14-day rule applies to the leave as a whole.

You can write such an application, but the employer may refuse: how leave is split and how long the parts are is decided only jointly (Rostrud letters No. 2143-6-1 of 17 July 2009 and No. ПГ/28100-6-1 of 10 January 2024). The opposite case, leave made only of weekends, is not allowed (Ministry of Labour letter No. 14-2/ООГ-9754 of 7 December 2018).

Basic leave is 28 calendar days (Labour Code, Art. 115). Extended leave: 30 for people with disabilities, 31 under 18, 42 or 56 for teachers (Government Decree No. 415), 30 for civil servants. Additional leave: from 7 days for hazardous work, from 3 for irregular hours, 24 in the Far North, 16 in equivalent areas and 8 in other northern areas. Additional days are added to basic leave.

The leave schedule is approved no later than two weeks before the new year, that is by 17 December (Labour Code, Art. 123). The employer must notify you in writing at least 2 weeks before the leave starts and pay leave pay at least 3 days ahead (Labour Code, Art. 136). If leave pay is late or the notice comes later, the leave can be postponed at your request (Art. 124).
