The counter at the top shows days, hours and minutes until the next school holidays on your device clock. It follows quarters by default — the education ministry's recommendation; the Trimesters switch recounts it on the typical 5+1 schedule. When a break is already on, the counter is replaced by how many days of rest are left and the date school resumes. All remaining breaks of the school year for both systems are listed below.

On the typical 5+1 schedule — a week off after every five weeks of lessons: 5 October – 11 October, 16 November – 22 November, 15 February – 21 February, 5 April – 11 April, winter 31 December – 10 January, and summer from 27 May. There are no federal dates for trimesters; each school works them out itself, so the schedule is a guide. Your school publishes its own dates in its academic calendar.

The rhythm. With quarters the year splits into four unequal parts and pupils rest four times — autumn, winter, spring and summer, with an extra February week for first-graders. With trimesters they study five weeks and rest one, so breaks are more frequent but shorter: two in autumn, winter, February for all grades and spring. The total rest per year is close, and the summer is the same.

Because each school approves its own academic calendar (Art. 28 of the Russian Education Act), while the ministry only recommends dates. A region may shift a week for local holidays or weather, and a school may adjust for its own timetable. If your dates differ, set your own on the season's countdown page — the counter recalculates and the link can be shared with classmates.

On the first working day after the last day of the break. After the autumn break on quarters, ending on 3 November, lessons resume on 5 November, because 4 November is a public holiday. After the winter break, ending on 10 January, school resumes on 11 January. During a break the page shows the return date from the Russian work calendar.

Usually in summer: the ministry's letter with recommended dates for the next school year has come out in July. Until then the page shows the current school year, and after 31 August 2027 it says plainly that new dates are not out yet — no empty counter and no invented dates. The typical trimester schedule is worked out from the same start and end of the year.
