roughly late May — the exam timetable sets the date
The OGE is the state exam taken by Russian ninth-graders; its main period starts in the second half of May. The exact dates come from the exam timetable approved in winter — until then the date here is approximate.
The date is an estimate
A school or a city sets the exact day, so neighbouring districts differ by a few days. What you see is the ministry recommendation and common practice — your own date will be more precise.

Frequently asked questions
Start of the OGE exams: 22 May 2027, Saturday; 22 May 2028, Monday; 22 May 2029, Tuesday. The date follows a rule — roughly late May — the exam timetable sets the date — so it is known years ahead. The counter at the top always shows the nearest date, and the “Dates by year” block below lists five years.
The counter at the top of the page shows the days, hours and minutes left until the OGE and updates every second by your device’s clock. On the day itself it shows “Today”, and from the next day it counts down to the following year. Nothing needs entering: the date follows the rule.
No, it is not a public holiday: it is not on the list of days off in Article 112 of the Russian Labour Code, so work and school go on as usual. If the date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it is an ordinary weekend. All days off and moved days for the year are in the working calendar linked under the counter.
Exam dates come from the single state exam timetable, which the Russian education ministry and supervisory service approve in winter. Until then this page shows a guide — late May, when the main period usually starts. Once the timetable is out the date will be updated and the countdown will follow. Regions use the same timetable.
Under the counter is a “Working days until the event” line — it counts the working days until the OGE by the Russian working calendar, with public holidays and moved days off. Today is not counted, and for years with no published calendar yet the count follows a plain five-day week without holidays, which is noted on the page.
Press “Add to your site” under the counter: the widget builder opens with this event. Pick the size and theme, copy the code — a single iframe tag with no scripts — and paste it into an HTML block on your site. The widget updates itself, sets no cookies, congratulates visitors on the day and then counts down to the OGE the following year.
